I'm working on cognitive neuroscience research (fMRI). Besides neuroimaging analyses coding (mostly in MATLAB and some Common Lisp) and related projects (mostly in Common Lisp), on my spare time I'm interested also in low-level things, like x86/x86-64 assembly, Linux kernel and reverse-engineering. Using natural language processing for traffic monitoring from video I edited the question to improve grammar and formatting so that OP could then edit it to make it more precise. There are actually two questions, in both the scope of desired robot cognition being overly broad. Some more limited scope of robot cognition would be IMHO a more fruitful point of departure for such a difficult matter. |

Plotting publication-quality ball-and-stick models of brain connectivity in 3D @Ubermensch Yes, using Blender a very good idea for video visualizations (Internet, talks etc.), and I think I'll check it out later. For paper (many times only grayscale available) and pdf publications Avogradro looks just fine. |

Plotting publication-quality ball-and-stick models of brain connectivity in 3D @Ubermensch Answering to myself: Avogadro doesn't check the chemical 'validity' of a molecule given in a .cml file. So all kinds of "molecules" with atoms with hundreds of bindings seem to be possible (eg. a Buckminster fullerene with additional atom bindings, all atoms binded to one). As .cml is a XML file, it's very easy to create with almost any programming language. So I think Avogadro and "abnormal" "molecules" are the way to go for me in brain regions connectivity visualization at least for now. I believe adding text to images exported from Avogadro is feasible. |

Plotting publication-quality ball-and-stick models of brain connectivity in 3D @Ubermensch Do you know if in Avogadro it's possible to create "atoms" that have abnormal number of atom bindings (more than 7, something like 10...20), to permit the brain regions have more connections (that way I could use Avogadro to create the visual structure and then present the directed connectivity parameters as numeric data plotted next to each stick between each relevant pair of "atoms" (brain regions). |
