I got my first degree as a musician (jazz guitar) and returned to school a couple of years ago as a psychology major. As of now I am a graduate student. I have a strong interest in methodology and statistics.

In my bachelor thesis I compared the Variability Effect from Cognitive Load Theory with the phenomenon of Interleaved Learning from a connectionist point of view. Currently I am trying to build on this work. I am working on a proposal of how hierarchically structured learning material can be analysed to make predictions about the order in which the underlying concepts might be distinguished from another.

comment Are unconscious thoughts captured by free association?
I personally think you answered the question yourself. If something is unconscious, then it is... well... not conscious.

I like your answer, but it seems to be based solely on your opinion. It sounds plausible, but can you provide some kind of reference?

comment Psychologically, how does volunteer work help the volunteer?
@Skippy Thanks. Note, that volunteering does not have to be altruistic. I edited my post to emphasize this.

comment Relationship between social psychology and educational psychology
@Aidis Hmmm, that's funny. I thought this question is nice because it's one of the few that actually have a simple answer. While I see your point, that a question about the relationship between two fields is certainly not easy to answer, the question of wether educational psychology is a subfield of social psychology in my opinion does have a definite answer.

revised Why does extrinsic motivation sometimes reduce intrinsic motivation?
Changed the title of the question a bit. Extrinsic Motivation doesn't "demotivate" people, otherwise it could not be called motivation. But it decreases intrinsic motivation.
