Neural networks with biologically plausible accounts of neurogenesis The Wikipedia link has been deleted: cs.iastate.edu/~honavar/fahlman.pdf. Might get more people answering on CompSci cstheory.stackexchange.com/questions/tagged/ne.neural-evol |

Is there a field of research based around music and emotion in the brain? @ChuckSherrington Ok, I didn't know it was this well researched and so I guess I was looking for the part of neuroscience that deals with music + emotion. I'll rephrase for that. |

How is motivation influenced by chance of reward? There's quite a lot of information on the subject in the book: How the Brain Works: amazon.com/Your-Brain-Work-Strategies-Distraction/dp/0061771295/… - which is largely based on academic research on dopamine and reward structures (or so the author states) |

Do we understand the non-subjective mechanisms behind pleasure and pain? Doesn't Pavlovian response cover this, and dopamine release from toward/away goals? Or are you thinking of something else? |

Are spaced flashcards effective for learning? I haven't seen the forgetting curve before but it matches the Supermemo algorithm almost exactly. Having read amazon.co.uk/Your-Memory-How-Works-Improve/dp/1569246297/… active recall seems to be quite a common theme/proven theory in learning. |

Are spaced flashcards effective for learning? Any thoughts on whether the SuperMemo algorithm has any evidence behind it, besides the author's own experience? |
