Freelance contract programmer/computer consultant since 1978, dba SOFTWEST, LLC. (www.softwest.com). BSEE/MSCS. Have been granted 20 US patents (either sole inventor or with others).

I work mostly with embedded microcontroller systems (8-16-32 bit) where I design both the hardware and firmware (usually C or C++).

@Randy Studies like this specifically use both identical (monozygotic) twins and fraternal (dizygotic) twins to control for this effect. Note the differences in concordance in the table presented in the paper I linked to.

@Randy Various forms of mental illness are not inherited per se, but it is suspected that there is a genetic predisposition that is inherited instead -- that is, one is more likely than the general population to develop a specific mental illness. In this study of twins for example, there was an 80% concordance for manic depression among identical twins (the highest of any trait listed).

@Randy My understanding is that one may have an inherited predisposition to a particular disorder (or disorders), such as major depression. But the person may not show any symptoms of the disorder until there is some significant trigger, for example in the case of depression, the loss of a child.

In the US, public awareness of Asperger Syndrome has increased significantly since the debut of the TV series Parenthood in 2010. One of the characters, preteen Max Braverman has Asperger Syndrome in the show and several episodes have revolved around how he and his family have dealt with the disorder.
