comment Why do people laugh in serious situations?
Not sure, but I do the same thing sometimes. Maybe because you saw it as a threatening situation at first and then realized it's harmless?

comment Eye movement tendencies for shades, sizes, shapes, and colours
The gestalt principle of continuation leads the eye toward something. For example, if you had a sun burst graphic, your eye would be drawn to the center of the burst.

comment How can I use gamification to encourage people to complete workplace training?
What are your goals? How are you defining success? At what point will the Health and Saftey training be successful? Security Awareness? Can you say these goals in a way that can be measured using real numbers? That's fine if you need help determining your metrics. Just start with your goals and the audience and I'll help you get more specific.

Who are the employees using the learning courses? Tell us a little more about them. What country do they live in? How skilled are they with computers? What kind of work do they do? Is English their primary language? How old are your oldest users? How young are your youngest users?

comment Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy Limitations
So people really need to want therapy. They must feel like cooperating for the therapy to be successful. Yes, PheonixEnder. I'd like to focus on people with narcissistic mothers for this question. If you can provide any additional info on psychological mental illness, instances where illness is not caused by phisiology such as chemical imbalances in the brain but rather is the result of experience or destructive thinking, I'd love to hear it. In cases where the illness is "purely mental," what makes a person more, or less, treatable? We can focus on narcissistic mothers if that keeps the

Additional note on poor software: People don't blame the designers or programmers for being unable to use their software. They get frustrated and blame themselves. Instead of getting mad at the bad design they just feel stupid. People aren't stupid. It's the people making the software who need to make it usable.

comment Does cognitive training enhance dopamine release?
These findings amaze me. This is the first research I've seen mentioned that stresses the importance of keeping your mind sharp. Since you're talking about dopamine release, I'm wondering if this is always a positive outcome? I'm not a psychologist or expert on the brain in any way, but I'm told that at high levels of dopamine the brain can show the psychotic symptoms of schizophrenia. If someone has a well functioning brain and they train using something like luminosity, could the enhanced release of dopamine cause adverse reactions? Thanks Greg.

And sometimes people just want to feel important. Clearly I'm one of those people if I need to dribble on like this. Humor me and stop with all the downvoting. I'll add an explanation to my answer when I'm by a keyboard.

My anecdote is giving my suggestion social proof which could make the difference between him spending effort to learn more or ignoring my suggestion. How can you discourage user-generated content?

He's talking about the PEG system. He doesn't say anything about the loci system I'm describing.

If you're interested in binaural beats, try isochronic beats instead. They're more effective than binaural.
