comment Does intermittent fasting increase intelligence?
Hi John, just wanted to give you some feedback on why I think your question wasn't feel received here. The main problem is you don't present your rational for thinking why I.F. might have an effect on intelligence. You should try and ground your question in the existing literature if want the community here to be of much help.

comment What are the negative effects of meditation?
Not a drawback unique to mediation, but opportunity cost tends to be neglected in such discussions. e.g. spending 2 hours mediating might reduce stress, but perhaps TV reduces stress faster.

comment Any models that act using both streams of visual processing?
Perhaps my comment was too strongly worded, as I too see links as a vital part of a good answer. But the problem here is that your answer text doesn't give any indication as to how the link helps to answer my question.

I've tried reading the chapter you linked, but several pages aren't available since its only a google books preview, so its hard to get a sense of what their model is. Could you briefly summarize their model in your answer? Self contained answers are generally encouraged here anyways. Thanks again for your time!

Thanks for the input! However, perhaps I'm misreading this, but I don't quite see how this answers my question. I'm interested in how we solve tasks where both dorsal and ventral stream information is needed. How are hemispheric asymmetries related to this?

comment Why do people laugh in serious situations?
Maybe its like the ole' "dont think of a purple elephant" trick: you tell yourself you definitely shouldn't laugh right now, then can't stop thinking about it, and then burst out in chuckles.

comment What is the difference between drug withdrawal and sleep deprivation effects?
Interesting question! Not sure if I'll get around to a full answer, but wanted to let you know that sleep almost certainly has a purpose, and probably has several. The one I know the most about is memory consolidation, where sleep is used to replay the day's events to better train the brain
