+1 for also being confused by much of Fristen's writing.

I think you be either alluding to or interested in Friston's free energy principle: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_energy_principle

comment Is being naked good for you?
I feel like this question, as it stands, lacks any theoretic motivation. There are an infinite number of questions we could ask about the human mind, but only a small finite amount of resources. If you could broaden the context of why you are interested in this question, then perhaps some relevant research literature could be found to answer it, even if they only use related constructs (e.g. work on activism or modesty or fashion depending on your motivation for asking).

comment Regarding “a human brain can hold enough information to fill 10 libraries”, can we quantify the memory required for a given task?
'Synaptic connections created' is a pretty bad metric for memory, since most memories are created by changing the weights of existing connections rather than creating new connections.

comment Does intermittent fasting increase intelligence?
I can assure you my problems with the question doesn't stem from an inability to read academic literature. All I'm saying is that the question isn't well motivated as stated; the fasting protocol is arbitrary. A less localized question might be: "do long term changes in ghrelin levels affect memory performance?".

comment Does intermittent fasting increase intelligence?
Hi John, just wanted to give you some feedback on why I think your question wasn't feel received here. The main problem is you don't present your rational for thinking why I.F. might have an effect on intelligence. You should try and ground your question in the existing literature if want the community here to be of much help.

comment What are the negative effects of meditation?
Not a drawback unique to mediation, but opportunity cost tends to be neglected in such discussions. e.g. spending 2 hours mediating might reduce stress, but perhaps TV reduces stress faster.
