comment Which of ML classifiers do humans use?
@Dikran, "Cognitive Sciences" on Stack Exchange does indeed cover machine learning, the "s" in "Sciences" means we're a multidisciplinary site :-)

comment Why do people remember things when they stop trying to remember?
OK @ThinksALot. This also appears to be a dupe of: cogsci.stackexchange.com/questions/676 and cogsci.stackexchange.com/questions/975/…;. If you feel that's wrong please edit your question and explain why. Thanks!

Nope, this is a duplicate. Incubation is the term for memory recall also.

comment Why do we not remember things from the first couple of years of childhood?
Great answer! Also note that you said you remember more from your childhood than some others, and also much of your mental process is nonverbal, so maybe that means (3) does not apply to you thus you remember more? Just an idea...

Fascinating question!! not sure if perception and personality are the proper tags, but I'm first to admit that tags are not my area of expertise.

@PEEJWEEJ that has been the conventional thinking but Ana is right, a recent study found that the currently accepted thinking might not be correct...

I asked a Meta question which I had based on this question. For now I am leaving this question open because it has an active bounty and has some great answers. I'm cleaning up some of the comments here; if anyone feels I deleted their comment in error, please flag/chat with me and I will restore it. Thanks everyone!
